Leith Arches will be in conservation area… with a big exclusion

Back in November 2021, Edinburgh Council consulted on extending the Leith Conservation Area to the red-stone arches on Mandserston Street. We shared the consultation and supported the proposal.

The propsal was accepted by Edinburgh Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday 23rd February 2022. However it does not include the building that currently houses the Bingo Hall, which was present on the consultation’s plans.

Please see below our joint letter, co-signed with our neighbours Leith Harbour & Newhaven Community Council and Leith Links Community Council both expressing our concerns with the process and our request that the Council to void the approval of the extension of the Leith Conservation Area and reinstate the Bingo Hall in the proposed Leith Conservation Area.

Tram-works crossings: update

Trams to Newhaven has provided an updated map of crossings (circulated 21 March February). This map now covers the full route.

Crossings are likely to move as work progresses. LCCC will endeavour to post updated information as and when it receives this. However, it cannot take responsibility if the information it disseminates is not reliable.
