Should the railway arches be part of the Leith Conservation Area?

The railway line that used to run across Leith Walk near Jane Street and Manderston Street could soon become part of the Leith Conservation Area, according to the Council.

The current Conservation Area protects buildings on Leith Walk, but doesn’t stretch east until Duke Street.

The new plans would include the disused railway line heading towards Pilrig Park as well as the arches on Manderston Street and the Old Capitol Cinema.

Leith Central Community Council previously called for this in the Manderston/Halmyre masterplan review.

They are asking for feedback on the Consultation Hub. The consultation is open until December 19th.
