Applications for new premises licences and variations of existing premises licences (dealt with monthly at the Board) are available at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/download/825/alcohol_licence_registers . (Details of applications for Occasional Licences, updated weekly, are also at the same part of the website).
The Council’s LSO Manager is Tom Veitch and the Police Scotland Licensing officer is Sergeant John Young, who is based at St Leonard’s Police Station.

Edinburgh Council has received many responses about services, including:

101 dialogue ideas
784 online surveys responses
66 print questionnaires returned
443 social media comments.

This year Edinburgh Council asked for ideas on how to deliver some services more effectively whilst staying customer focused. There was support for more shared facilities for services such as the Drumbrae Hub, using more volunteers (but not to replace paid staff) and improving our online services.

Stakeholder Update 93: Phase 4 (Pilrig Street to McDonald Road) and Phase 5 Traffic Regulation Order (Brunswick Street to Montgomery Street)

The contractor commenced back on site on 5^th January, carrying out site set-up on Iona Street as before and stakeholder communication, following which the works to the Pilrig Street junction commenced with a closure of Pilrig Street as of the 9^th January for a period of around 8 weeks (early March completion). These works will also include works to the Iona Street junction and the surfacing of Leith Walk at these junctions. This will be the main focus of our Contractors’ work at this time as we seek to minimise disruption to pedestrians and traffic by opening a number of work sites concurrently. Work sites will then progress south on Leith Walk from Pilrig Street to McDonald Road as originally envisaged, with any additional work sites being opened only where it is felt there is a benefit to the Project without adversely affecting the use of the street.

Progress towards the end of last year was disrupted by 3^rd party utility operations, and we will again be required to accommodate their works during the course of the Phase 4 Contract, while trying at all times to minimise the impact on the Programme.

A report detailing the responses from the statutory consultation on the Leith Programme Phase 5 will be considered at the Transport and Environment Committee on 17 January. Continue reading →

Leith Walk works – Phase 4 imminent

Please note

the contractors have now commenced back on site, with the majority of their tasks this week being site set-up and stakeholder communication.
Following this, the plan is to commence works at Pilrig Street junction, with closure of Pilrig St from 9th January until early March.
This will allow to the project to move southwards in sections from Pilrig Street to McDonald Road.
CEC supervision arrangements of the site have been reviewed: CEC are in the process of increasing project management and supervision resources on the project to ensure the contractor’s performance and management of pedestrian traffic, barriers, fences and security.

Edinburgh Council’s Community Safety Services are consulting on the Scottish Government’s new model for community justice which aims to reduce crime, keep communities safe and promote social inclusion and citizenship. People who have been witnesses or victims of crime are invited to go along to the above event.
