Consultation launched on Building Scotland’s Low Emission Zones

On 6th September, Transport Minister Humza Yousaf launched a consultation on Building Scotland’s Low Emission Zones (LEZs).

The Scottish Government is seeking views on how best to put in place LEZs, following a commitment made yesterday to introduce LEZs into Scotland’s four biggest cities by 2020. Additionally, the Scottish Government will shortly announce the location of the first LEZ which will be put in place in 2018.The consultation will be available via the Transport Scotland and Citizen Space website <https://consult.scotland.gov.uk/transport-scotland/building-scotlands-low-emission-zones/start_preview?token=6c977cc2d011560b41897523c5ccbc5bd163f224> until the 28 November 2017. Delay was due to

  1. The draft minutes could not be approved until LCCC met in August. (In common with many CCs, LCCC does not meet in July.)
  2. LCCC’s minutes secretary and web-weaver was unavailable for some of August and September due to personal and work commitments.

Climate Challenge Fund opens for applications

Community-led organisations from across Scotland are invited to apply to the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) for funding to support local projects that tackle climate change.  Download How to apply (PDF) and content and images for websites (PDF).

CCF grants of up to £150,000 per organisation, per year, are available for projects taking place between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2020*. The deadline to submit an Expression of Interest, the first stage of the application process for a CCF Grant, is 17:00 on 28 August 2017. Continue reading

Playaway!

Playing Out is a pilot scheme that lets you close your street for free to run children’s play events. It runs from 1 April to 31 August 2017. Applications are now open.
