OneCity trust open for grant applications: grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 available

The OneCity Trust is pleased to announce that its main grant programme is now open for applications. Registered charities and constituted groups based in Edinburgh and focussing their work in the city. Ideally with an annual income of less than £200,000, are invited to apply for funding for equality and social inclusion projects meeting one or more of the following priorities;

  • community connectedness
  • cultural bridging
  • civic inclusion

For the third year, the trust is also in a partnership with Travis Perkins Managed Services and the City of Edinburgh Council. This is a Community Benefit Legacy fund offered to the Council by Travis Perkins as part of a major contract and is managed through the OneCity Trust.

Consultation on the update of The Licensing (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2007

The Scottish Government is seeking views on the update of the Licensing (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2007.

The Scottish Government is responsible for regulating the powers of Scottish local authorities and Licensing Boards in relation to licensing the sale of alcohol.

The Licensing (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2007 came into force on 1st February 2008. They provide for various procedural matters under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, relating to, amongst other things, the notification of licence applications, objections, representations, determinations and hearings.

A Consultation on: Update of The Licensing (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2007 has been published on the Scottish Government’s consultation platform, Citizen Space.  Share views and respond to this consultation online at: https://consult.gov.scot/criminal-law/licensing-procedure.

If you are unable to respond online you can submit your response along with a completed Respondent Information Form to: Licensing.Consultation@gov.scot.

Dalmeny Street Park: Easter community fun day

Destiny Angels would love to invite you to be part of an Easter Community Fun Day in Dalmeny St Park.

Activities include: Easter Egg Hunt, Egg & Spoon Race, Football Tournament, Face-Painting, Crafts, Free Food, Litter Picking, Graffiti Clean-up, Gardening, Fire Engine, Police Bikes, Balloon Modelling.

With local organisations and residents helping out, it promises to be a great day to celebrate our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Drummond Community High School/Gaelic Medium Education: update

This follows on from item 10 of LCCC’s January’s minutes, where it was reported:

On 8 December, an informal consultation on Gaelic Medium Education (GME) suggested that Drummond Community High School (DCHS) could become the site for delivering GME to secondary pupils from Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce primary school, and that DCHS could later become GME-only. This has caused much concern for parents of pupils at primary schools that feed DCHS. CEC has been asked for assurance that pupils (and their younger siblings) who have started at DCHS can complete their education there. A formal consultation is due in March.

The parent’s council emailed LCCC this evening:

We have now had a commitment that ‘Pupils living within the existing Drummond High School catchment area will continue to attend the school.’ Education Children and Families Committee has decided to widen the options for GME beyond Drummond. We welcome the commitment and decision.
