Election hustings: 14 April

The Spurtle will host hustings for the Scottish Parliamentary election from 7.30pm–9.00pm on 14 April in Broughton St Mary’s Parish Church (Bellevue Crescent).

Representatives have been invited from all 10 parties/independents standing in the Edinburgh Northern & Leith constituency. Full details are on the Spurtle website.

Volunteer organisers asked to nominate inspiring volunteers

Volunteer Edinburgh is inviting nominations of local volunteers for a prestigious annual award.

Edinburgh’s Lord Provost and city Volunteering Ambassador, Donald Wilson, will honour the city’s most ‘inspiring volunteers’ at a special awards ceremony to take place on Tuesday 7th June 2016, during #volunteersweek

Volunteer Edinburgh wants to hear about the city’s unsung heroes and most committed volunteers.

Leith Neighbourhood Partnership News: Winter 2016

Alcohol in Leith

In 2014, local people said that alcohol was a factor in some of the issues which needed to be prioritised.  Those views are supported by statistical information which tells us that alcohol impacts on the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership area in a number of ways.

The City of Edinburgh’s Licensing Board regularly produce a statement on how they will carry out licensing in the city and the Partnership is asked to say how it would like this done in Leith.  The Partnership would like to be sure that what it says is the correct view of local people.  So it would like to know more about local people’s experience and views on alcohol.
