Community Police Officers – funded by Edinburgh Council

Each council ward will be assigned 2 Community Police Officers, with an additional 7 for City Centre to aid with issues around the night time economy, as agreed at Edinburgh Council’s Health, Social Care and Housing Committee today. The agreement will apparently commence on 1st April (it’s 21 April just now). LCCC doesn’t know how many Community Improvement partnerships (CIPs) are in place just now, nor how they will interface with Community Councils, but will report as soon as we have further information. Continue reading

It’s bin and gone – for now!

It appears that Edinburgh Council isn’t responsible for some of the waste processing issues in Leith Walk and its environs. Replacement bins have been ordered but may take two months to arrive.

Overflowing residential communal bins (corner of Dalmeny Street and Leith Walk) are bedding in, usually around mid-week. (This photo was taken on 17 March.) Could it be that the bins are used not only by local residents?
