Parking in Edinburgh – consultation

A consultation is underway on parking in Edinburgh. The draft parking action plan  sets out a range of actions and was approved by the Transport and Environment Committee on 25 August. The main actions include:

  • The extension of parking controls to cover weekends/Sundays and into the evening
  • The roll out of shared use parking places
  • The introduction of visitor permits in the city centre

Edinburgh Council wants to know what you think about the parking proposals to ensure the it makes the right decisions about parking in Edinburgh.  Once you’ve read the proposals, please fill in the questionnaire.

St Mary’s (Leith) RC Primary School – Rising Rolls Pre-Planning Open Evening

St Mary’s (Leith) RC Primary School’s inclusion in the Rising Rolls project to address accommodation issues at the school was approved by Education, Children and Families Committee in May 2015.

This is to let you know that an open evening will be held at St Mary’s (Leith) RC Primary School on Tuesday 6 October from 6pm to 8pm to allow the school community and local residents to view plans and discuss with the design team the proposals for a two classroom extension in the grounds of the school prior to submission of a planning application later in October.

Waste Action Grants – deadline approaching

Communities across Edinburgh are being urged to submit their applications to the City of Edinburgh Council for a Waste Action Grant as the deadline fast approaches. Grants are available to fund eco-friendly projects that will encourage more people in the Capital to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Duncan Place Resource Centre

There is a campaign to save Duncan Place resource centre, specifically for an option to provide ‘a new school gym and nursery and a refurbishment of the ground floor of DPRC
to provide council run community services’.

Leith Links CC invites those who wish to contribute to this campaign to email their Councillors, MSP and other representatives – the vote is tomorrow morning.

Friends of Pilrig Park – upcoming events

AGM Monday 12th October (McDonald Rd Library)

The Friends of Pilrig Park will be holding a Public Meeting along with our AGM on Monday 12th October from 6.30-8.00pm at the Nelson Hall in McDonald Road Library.
