Proposed amendments to the Planning (Scotland) Bill

As you may have seen in the press this week, Andy Wightman MSP has proposed amendments to the Planning (Scotland) Bill regarding second homes and short-term lets.

If passed, these proposals amend section 26 of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 so that second homes and short-term lets (amendments 44 and 45, respectively) will require full planning consent. Further information about these amendments can be found in the attached briefing paper (PDF).

August Licensing Board List – Leith Central Community Council

LCCC has been made aware of the following licensing applications. The deadline for comments to the licensing board is 9 August.

The Edinburgh Masonic Club	Macdonald Licensing Bf, 21 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, EH1 2BB	3 Shrubhill Walk, Edinburgh, EH7 4RB	Club premises, located on ground and upper floor, of a development on Shrubhill Walk, Leith Walk, Edinburgh.
The Hibernian Football Club Limited	Macdonald Licensing Bf, 21 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, EH1 2BB	26 Albion Place, Edinburgh, EH7 5PZ	To add off sales to the premises, to add bar meals as an activity, to clarify that some activities may take place outwith core hours and to substitute a new Designated Premises Manager.
Hillside Bowling Club	Macdonald Licensing Bf, 21 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, EH1 2BB	9a Brunton Place, Edinburgh, EH7 5EG	To amend the on and off sale hours of the premises, to add seasonal variations to the premises, to add activites, to amend Children and Young persons access to the premises, to provide that activities may take place outwith core hours during the seasonal variations, to delete conditions 3 and 4 of the Premises Licence and to add a Designated Premises Manager to the premises.

North Edinburgh Path Improvements – Telford Path (Construction Works Notification)

As part of the drainage and surfacing improvements on the Telford Path, at Easter Drylaw Drive, a path closure and diversion will be in place commencing 23rd July for 2 weeks. Please see below the proposed diversion route which will be in place for certain activities during this time.

Healthy ageing research study

Are you aged 65 or over? Do you want to take up a new activity?

As we get older, some of us might experience changes in our thinking or memory skills. Research has suggested that taking up a new activity, especially one we’ve never done before, might help maintain our thinking skills.

We are a research team at Heriot-Watt University exploring how taking up a new activity might benefit our thinking skills and wellbeing. We are looking for people aged 65 and over in Edinburgh and the Lothians to take part.

Outdoor Advertising consultation

Edinburgh Council is reviewing its planning guidance on outdoor advertising (the adverts you see on the side of the road or on the pavement). Stakeholders and members of the public are being asked for their views to help to inform new guidance.

The consultation, which will run until 14 September, is asking people what types of outdoor advertising are acceptable, where it is suitable, as well as what they think about more adverts changing to become digital.

Views gathered after the consultation will help to inform the new planning guidance which will go to a future Planning Committee for approval. When approved it will be used to assess new outdoor advertising applications going forward.
