Royal High School – planning application submitted

(adapted from an email from the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland)

There has been some concern over plans to build hotel wings flanking the Royal High School on Calton Hill. A planning application has now been submitted. The consultation period ends on 2 October.

Click the graphic to see a flyer for a meeting to be held jointly by the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland and the Cockburn Association on Thursday, 24 September at 6 pm at St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church in George Street.

Leith Central CC needs YOU!

Leith Central CC member Marion Donaldson was elected to Edinburgh Council on Thursday 11th September. (See here [PDF] for details.) She automatically becomes an ex-officio (non-voting) member, along with the other Edinburgh Councillors, MP and MSP whose wards and constituencies include any part of Leith Central’s area.* The other new ex-officio member is new councillor John Lewis Ritchie. What matters to YOU?

The idea to crowdsource a Fairer Scotland policy comes from a Government that says it wants to be more open and transparent than ever before. But that’s going to be easier said than done. There’s a whole series of local events being run – as you’d expect – but the hope is that communities will really take it upon themselves to have these conversations. Small grants are available to help with that if needed.

Help shape the future of local tax

Marco Biagi MSP is hosting a public consultation on September 9th at August United Church on George IV Bridge from 7PM . It will be open to all who wish to attend. The event will require no prior or expert knowledge and is aimed at giving everyone a chance to contribute based on their own experience as Council Tax payers and city residents.
