Stakeholder Update 85 – Leith Programme Phase 4 contractor mobilisation reminder, and Bernard Street survey work

Leith Programme Phase 4 (Pilrig Street to McDonald Road) contractor mobilisation on site

A reminder that following the procurement process for Phase 4 of the Leith Programme, Land Engineering Ltd was appointed to deliver the Pilrig Street to McDonald Road section of our improvement works. Land Engineering are currently mobilising on site, ahead of a 10 month construction period due to start in September 2016, with a planned completion date expected in Summer 2017.

In addition, in advance of the Council deciding on whether or not to extend the tram line north of York Place, enabling works will be incorporated in the footways in order to ensure that, should the decision be taken in 2017 to extend the current line, future disruption impacting on the local area is kept to a minimum. NHS Lothian’s Annual Review – rescheduled

NHS Lothian’s Annual Review has been rescheduled (it was to take place on 31 August) and will now take place on Monday 10 October 2016.  The Public Session will be held at 2pm at NHS Lothian, Waverley Gate, Meeting Rooms 7 and 8, 2nd Floor, 4 Waterloo Place, Edinburgh EH1 3EG.

The Annual Review is the formal process through which the Scottish Government assesses NHS Lothian’s performance in 2015-2016. The meeting will be chaired by Ms Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport. British Sign Language Interpreters will be available during the meeting. Questions in advance of the meeting are welcomed. During the main Annual Review meeting there will be a 30 minute public Question and Answer session, at which members of the public will have the opportunity to ask about health services in Lothian. It will not be possible to answer questions about an individual patient’s care or treatment at this session.

Community payback orders – your views are wanted

Edinburgh Council’s Criminal Justice Service (CJS) is consulting residents, community groups and organisations about Community Payback Orders (CPOs). These are given out by Courts so offenders can pay for their crimes as an alternative to prison sentences.

You can send in your views by completing CJS’s consultation form. The key aim of the event is to increase the representation of BME communities in community councils. It is hosted jointly by Edinburgh & Lothians Regional Equality Council (ELREC) project and Granton & District Community Council.
